Research and planning: Representation in music video.

What is the technical meaning of representation?

Because meaning is created by mise en scene, camera work, editing, and sound, whenever an event, group of people, or topic is conveyed through a media text, it becomes a representation because the full truth of a situation cannot be fully given. Stereotypes are frequently used in representation to make issues, groups of people, and events simpler to identify, but this raises its own problems that are discussed in a number of theories. As any other form of media literature, music videos produce representations from which viewers can derive their own unique interpretations.

What is music representation?

Musical representation is the process of using music to depict real people, things, or events. For noises or items having distinctive sounds that music can obviously emulate or imitate, this is least challenging. However, the realm of musical representation may go beyond this to include concrete phenomena that can be heard in music or that a musical passage may be perceived as. This perception may occur even in the absence of a striking sonic similarity between the music and the phenomenon in question, but rather as a result of certain structural parallels or isomorphisms between them.
